Default Keep Your Transmission From Costing You This Year

The transmission is easy to damage inadvertently through poor driving decisions and bad maintenance. Unfortunately, it’s also one of the most expensive parts of your certified Toyota to fix. Never fear, though – a few precautions that you and your service station can take will keep you from having to deal with an expensive replacement for your certified Toyota this year.

Use the right kind of transmission fluid

An automatic transmission in particular is very sensitive to the quality of the fluid you use. Using the wrong kind of fluid can destroy your transmission permanently, leaving you no choice but to replace it. Talk to your Toyota service station about what kind of transmission fluid is best for your certified Toyota and be sure you always use that fluid.

Get your transmission checked regularly

Checking the fluid level in your transmission is fairly simple, and can be done at the same time you check your oil. If your fluid level is low, you may have a transmission leak, which you should get fixed immediately. Driving on insufficient fluid can seriously damage your transmission, and that leak could keep you from finding out you’re low on fluid before it’s too late.

Ask your service station to take your transmission for a test drive

If you suspect something’s wrong with your transmission, ask for a second opinion. A good service station can usually identify small problems before they become big problems, which can mean you only have to pay for a small repair, rather than the huge cost of replacing the transmission altogether.

Keep your transmission in good running order with regular visits to your local St. Louis Toyota dealer and our great service stations. We’re always here to make sure your certified Toyota performs at the best of its ability for many years to come.
